Grant Van Hal

Grant Van Hal is an experienced lawyer based in Lethbridge, Alberta, with a broad practice focused on residential real estate, estate planning, and employment law. He also takes on select litigation matters in the areas of employment, wills and estates, and insurance, providing thoughtful, strategic guidance when it matters most.

Grant grew up on a farm near Seven Persons, Alberta, and brings a grounded, practical perspective to his legal work. Before establishing his practice in Lethbridge, he gained valuable experience working at firms in both Edmonton and Calgary, including one of Alberta’s premier litigation boutiques. He also served as Senior Policy Advisor for the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association, where he worked closely with government and industry stakeholders on regulatory and policy development.

Since moving to Lethbridge in 2015, Grant has built a strong local practice and became a Partner at Peterson and Purvis LLP before continuing his work with Harvie denBok Pollock. His background in both litigation and policy allows him to approach legal matters with a well-rounded and analytical perspective, while maintaining a strong focus on practical, client-centered solutions.

Grant holds a Bachelor of Arts (with Distinction) from the University of Calgary, a Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Development from the University of Calgary.
